After Congress party’s poor show and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerging as a clear majority in the Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand assembly elections, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the victory.
“I congratulate Narendra Modi and the BJP on their victory in Uttar Pradesh & Uttarakhand,” Rahul Gandhi tweeted.
In reply, PM Modi thanked Rahul Gandhi in his own style.
“Thank you. Long live democracy!” PM Modi replied to Rahul’s tweet.
Earlier this week, Rahul had said that PM Modi has “grown old” and must be “feeling tired”, further claiming that Congress and ally Samajwadi Party would form a “government of youth” in UP.
The BJP scripted a historic win in Uttar Pradesh, emerging as the single largest party with win in over 300 seats. Meanwhile, in Uttarakhand, the party defeated Congress led by Harish Rawat, winning 55 seats.
Congress, however, managed to make a comeback with Captain Amarinder Singh at the helm in Punjab. While Goa and Manipur are heading towards a hung assembly.
