Arab nations cutting ties with Qatar GCC's internal matter: India

There are approximately 6.5 lakh Indians in Qatar, making the largest expatriate community there.

India today described as "internal matter" of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), the cutting of diplomatic ties by Arab nations, including Saudi Arabia, with Qatar. 

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said that India was only trying to find out if any of its nationals is adversely impacted due to the development. 

"This is an internal matter of the GCC. Our only concern is about Indians there. We are trying to ascertain if any Indian is stuck there," she told a press conference here. 

She expressed hope that things will get normal within the GCC as such things have happened in the past as well.

Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, Yemen, Egypt and the Maldives today announced they would severe diplomatic tied with Qatar accusing it of supporting extremism.
