Jagan Mohan Reddy Chandrababu should be shot dead for cheating people, Says Jagan Mohan Reddy

In a controversial statement, YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Friday said that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu should be shot dead for cheating people of the state by making false promises.

Addressing a public meeting at Nandyala in Kurnool district late on Thursday night, Jagan Mohan Reddy also said that  Naidu was not a “mukhyamantri” but a “mukhyakantri” (cheater in Telugu).

Calling Andhra CM a “Kaliyug rakshas” , Jagan added that there would be nothing wrong if leaders like him were shot dead in public.

“Naidu should be shot dead for cheating people of Andhra Pradesh and his false promises and double-speak on every issue. Naidu made so many promises to farmers, women, minorities, unemployed youth, but failed to deliver. He is very treacherous. He is like a Kaliyug rakshas,’’ Jagan Mohan Reddy was quoted as saying by The Indian Express.

Jagan made these comments while addressing an election meeting for Nandyal Assembly bypoll scheduled for August 24. The Nandyal seat fell vacant after the death of its sitting MLA Bhuma Nagi Reddy recently.

The Andhra Pradesh government is reportedly considering lodging a criminal case against Jagan Mohan Reddy for making such inflammatory statement.

Many TDP leaders have already filed police complaints against Jagan Mohan Reddy for threatening to kill the Chief Minister.

“How dare he threaten to kill the CM?’’  Kurnool TDP leader S Rajsekhar, who has lodged a police complaint against Jagan, was quoted as saying by The Indian Express.

“Jagan has revealed his factionist mindset and violent family background. Criticising political rivals is fine but calling for their lynching or killing in public cannot be forgiven. This is how things are in YSRCP. Imagine what will happen to Andhra Pradesh if Jagan is voted to power,’’ Krishna district TDP chief Devineni Avinash, who lodged another police complaint against Jagan, told IE.

YSRCP leaders, however, tried to defend Jagan Mohan Reddy by pointing out that he only asked for pulling up the Chief Minister for not fulfilling his promises.

“One should not take the comments in a negative perspective. What our party president was saying was that people like Naidu should be pulled up for cheating the voters,” YSRC legislator RK Roja told Hindustan Times.
