In a setback to Congress and Sonia Gandhi, veteran party spokesperson Tom Vadakkan today joined the rival BJP.
Tom Vadakkan, a long time Sonia Gandhi loyalist said that he was hurt by how his party reacted at the events that have unfolded since Pulwama attack and said that he had no business being in a party which did not speak in the favour of the nation.
“It hurt me deeply when you question the integrity of the armed forces. The matter is not of ideology, this is about patriotism. If a political party takes a position against the country, I had no option but to leave the party,” he said.
Who is Tom Vadakkan?
Tom Vadakkan was known as Sonia loyalist in the Congress party, that is until today when he jumped ship to join BJP. He was a vocal critic of BJP and its policies as a spokesperson.
Vaddakkan, who hails from Kerala, was a part of the first media group formed by Sonia Gandhi in the late 1990s when she became the President of the INC
He has formerly held the positions of Secretary of AICC and former Convenor Grievance cell INC
Tom Vadakkan is a close relative of Joseph Vadakkan, the Christian political activist.
