Soon after reports of Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel offering to quit from her post came up, Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal took to Twitter to do what he does best.

Kejriwal, in his tweet, stated that the fear of AAP’s growing popularity in the state was the reason behind this move and that the Bharatiya Janata Party was scared of AAP.

He took to micro-blogging website Twitter to announce the reason behind Patel’s exit.

“Anandiji’s resignation is due to AAP’s growing popularity in Gujarat. BJP is scared of AAP,” Kejriwal said in his tweet.

He also went ahead to dub Gujarat CM’s resignation a “victory for AAP’s war against corruption.”

State Assembly elections in Gujarat are scheduled for December next year.

Amid a string of Dalit protests turning the situation difficult for the state government in Gujarat, Anandiben Patel today took to social media to appeal to the BJP leadership to relieve her from the post.

She has cited her rising age as the reason she wants to step down from the post. She will turn 75 years this November.

“In the past few years, our seniors have started a tradition not to accept any post after seventy-five years of age, which is exemplary,” she said.

BJP President Amit Shah confirmed that he has received the letter from Gujarat CM which will be forwarded to the Parliamentary board of the party.
