The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is in a complete makeover mode to keep up with the changing times. Party’s present headquarters at 11, Ashoka Road, will soon be history with the office all set to be shifted about five km away on Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg.

The new office will take over two years to be built and be equipped with modern technological facilities to link the headquarters with the party units in states and districts. Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with party president Amit Shah today laid the foundation stone of the new BJP headquarters on a two-acre plot here.

The new building is likely to have three parts with two sides having three storeys each and housing offices of the party office bearers. One side will have offices of various party wings.

The WiFi-enabled complex will have 70 rooms. The middle section is likely to have seven storeys, with each floor having facilities like conference halls, research rooms, digital library and studios for live telecast.

The building will be eco-friendly. Hollow bricks will used and solar panels will be installed to provide power. Rain-water harvesting and bio-toilets are also key features planned.

Also, a big national flag will be placed on a high pole. Separate underground parking for 200 cars is also in the pipeline.

A sprawling statue of Deen Dayal Upadhyay, one of the most important leaders of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, the forerunner of the present day BJP, will also be set up in the campus.
