After a while in the revised edition from DLS method, the IPL match was reduced to 18 overs for each side. Rajasthan Royals had won the toss and opted to bowl first, putting the hosts to bat first at the Feroz Shah Kotla in New Delhi.

Prithvi Shaw and Colin Munro started off matters where the youngster played an influential role, scoring 47 runs off 25 balls, scoring four 4's and four 6's. Munro was dismissed for a duck.

Pant (69 off 29 balls; 4x7, 6x5) and Iyer (50 off 35; 4x3, 6x3) capitalised on a brilliant start by teenaged sensation Prithvi Shaw (47 off 25 balls; 4x4, 6x4) as Delhi overcame the early loss of opener Colin Munro in the opening over. Shreyas Iyer as well played a major role, helping Delhi Daredevils score 196/6 at the end of the innings.

Rajasthan's ploy of opting to field after winning the toss, was however soon dismissed by the 18-year-old Prithvi, who combined with his skipper to smoke 73 runs for the second wicket in mere 40 balls. Unadkat struck once again in the same over with the wicket of Pant, who became this IPL's highest run-getter, before completing his spell with the scalp of Vijay Shankar, who struck a 6-ball 17.

Rain interrupted play once again, setting a new target for the Rajasthan Royals as the visitors needed 151 runs to make in 12 overs via the DLS method.

Jos Buttler made a cracking start to Rajasthan Royals innings after the revised DLS method smashing a thundering 67 off 26 balls which includes four 4's and seven 6's. Buttler scored his second fifty of the IPL and gave Rajasthan the momentum they required.

After Buttler's knock, it was D'Arcy Short who came close with his knock off 44 runs in 25 balls. The latter of the middle-order batsmen fell one by one. However, Rajasthan didn't back down as their batsman did all they could and brought it down to the wire eventually, but it was Delhi Daredevils who prevailed victorious, winning by 4 runs at Feroz Shah Kotla.
