The Bihar government has reopened schools for Classes 1- 8 from Monday (August 16). The classes will be held with 50 per cent attendance and on alternate days. Bihar Education Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary wished all the students good luck. The teachers and staff will be vaccinated on priority and Covid testing will be conducted at all schools, the government circular mentioned. The classes for 9 to 12 have already opened and coaching institutions were allowed to reopen last week.

Rajasthan government has granted permission for the reopening of schools from classes 9-12 with 50 per cent capacity from September 1 onward. All government and private schools for classes 9 to 12, universities, colleges, and coaching institutes will reopen. Teaching and non-teaching staff need to mandatorily have taken at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine 14 days prior. Classes for students of 1 to 8 will be conducted in online mode.

Tamil Nadu schools will be reopened for classes 9-12 from September 1, given the situation of the pandemic during that time. Schools that were shut since the closure due to Covid in 2020 are conducting major renovation work to welcome students in their schools.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin had announced that the government is contemplating reopening schools for classes 10 to 12 and the meeting of the School education minister with the CEOs is likely to hover around this subject.
