Kate and William's date with Taj Mahal, revive memories of princess Diana

The royal couple visited the Taj Mahal on Saturday. They posed sitting on a marble bench where Prince William’s mother Diana had posed alone for a memorable photograph 24 years ago. The couple were visiting the Taj Mahal after coming back to India from Bhutan.

Ahead of their visit, William and Kate's communications secretary, Jason Knauf, had told reporters in London that William "feels incredibly lucky to visit a place where his mother's memory is kept alive by so many who travel there."

Kate was adorning a slimline white dress with a circular navy pattern while William looked dapper wearing a blue blazer and open-neck shirt.

“It’s a beautiful place, stunning designs in there,” William told reporters after the couple spent about half an hour inside the mausoleum, famous for its pure white marble. Kate said it had been “incredible learning about the romance of the building and its really beautiful architecture”.

The couple had visited Mumbai, New Delhi, the Kaziranga National Park in Assam and Bhutan. They stayed in Kaziranga until Thursday, after which they made a one-day trip to Bhutan.

William and Kate arrived in Mumbai on April 10. The royal couple was also joined by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a private lunch on Tuesday in New Delhi.

Ordinary tourists were allowed to enter the building from the right during the royal visit. The british couple caused a great deal of excitement, with dozens of people taking pictures on their cellphones.
