Kaushal who passed away early Wednesday morning following a heart attack married to actor-TV presenter Mandira Bedi. The couple has two children, son Vir and daughter Tara.

Raj, on Sunday, had shared pictures from his get-together with friends on Instagram with a caption reading, "Super Sunday. Super Friends. Super Fun." His demise came as a shock for the industry and social media got filled with condolences.

Mandira Bedi and Raj Kaushal got married in the year 1999 and welcomed son Vir in 2011. They wanted to adopt a daughter for quite some time and so welcomed 4-year-old Tara into the family in July last year.

Raj began his career as a copywriter and later started his own advertising production company in 1998. He went on to direct over 800 commercials.

Not just with Mandira, the filmmaker shared a lot of fun-filled pictures with his kids. On June 21, he shared a photo with his kids and wrote about how the COVID-19 pandemic and how touched he was with his son's birthday gift idea. "Our surroundings have a deep impact on our children and I’m thankful that during this pandemic, I was able to witness the generous and compassionate side of my kids. When I had asked my son, Vir, what he wanted for his birthday, I was expecting him to say toys or may be some gadgets, but what he said touched me deeply. He said that he just wanted a day full of love and blessings. But more than that, he was keen on doing something that would keep people healthy and safe during this pandemic. My ten-year old’s gesture really made me proud and I realized how content and selfless he truly is. So, for his birthday present, as per his wishes, I arranged free vaccination for many underprivileged people through a private vaccination camp organised in our neighbourhood," he wrote.

Kaushal's funeral in Bandra on Wednesday morning was attended by his friends from the industry including Huma Qureshi, Apurva Agnihotri, Samir Soni and Ashish Chaudhary among others.
