Controversies battled by Kangana Ranaut's Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi

  • Lately, most of the films of Kangana Ranaut have been embroiled in controversies, be it Simran or Rangoon. Ranaut's latest release Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi too had a fair share of controversies. From the actress donning the director's hat to Karni Sena's threat, let's have a look at controversies which tried to put a hindrance in Ranaut's ambitious project.  

  • Mangal Pandey: The Rising filmmaker Ketan Mehta, who was earlier supposed to direct his dream project Jhansi Ki Rani: The Warrior Queen slapped a legal notice on Kangana Ranaut and producer Kamal Jain. He accused them of breach of trust, especially Kangana, who was to play the titular role in Mehta's film. ''Be careful before you trust,'' Ketan Mehta told indianexpress.com talking about the life-long lesson he got.

  • There was a lot of buzz after a clapboard of Manikarnika showing the actress's name as the director surfaced on the internet. Later, Kangana Ranaut issued a clarification saying she has just shot patchwork of the film on behalf of Krish as he is shooting for another project.

  • The exit of Sonu Sood left everyone in shock. It was a nasty fallout followed by public spat. Sood wasn't pleased with the film's progress under Kangana's direction. Indianexpress.com reported that when Sood expressed his concerns, Kangana reacted in an unexpected manner. 

  • A fresh troubled started brewing for Kangana Ranaut when German actor Andy Von Eic, who played British officer in the period drama took to Twitter to level allegations against makers over nonpayment of dues. However, later he deleted the post, reported TOI.

  • Reportedly Shri Rajput Karni Sena, who protested against Padmaavat surfaced again before the release of Manikarnika. They claimed that a song shows Rani Laxmi Bai dancing and it is against tradition. They even asked makers to show them the film before its release. Reacting to it, Kangana said, ''I am a Rajput and I will destroy them. Later, the fringe group said they weren't involved in the protest, however, demanded an apology from Kangana for making ''derogatory statements' against them, to which the actress blatantly refused.
