December 14 marks the birthday of veteran actor Raj Kapoor. The actor scripted his name as one of the best artiste and filmmakers in the history of Indian cinema. He has given some iconic movies and was called as the greatest Showman of Indian cinema. The actor died on June 2, 1988. Raj Kapoor made his debut at the age of 10 in 1935 with ‘Inquilab’. He then appeared in several films. In 1947, the actor worked in ‘Neel Kamal’ with Madhubala. He became the youngest director and established his own studio R. K. Films.

In 1951, Raj played the lead role in ‘Awara’ opposire Nargis. The film had some beautiful songs which are still remembered. The track ‘Awaara Hoon’ became one of the popular songs of that time and gained worldwide popularity.

‘Shree 420’ once again starred Raj Kapoor and Nargis. Its song ‘Mera Joota Hai Japani’ became famous and the film was one of the highest grossing films of 1955.

‘Mera Naam Joker’ marked the debut of actor Rishi Kapoor. Though, the film couldn’t live up to the expectations of people when it was released but it is still remembered as one of the most iconic movies of Bollywood.
