Actor Vijay Kavish played three roles in Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan. Can you identify?

  • Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan won over people once again when it returned to the TV during the lockdown. From Arun Govil, Dipika Chikhlia, Sunil Lahri to Dara Singh, all the actors of the mythological show returned to the limelight and fans praised their work in abundance. While every actor played a distinct role, there were a few actors in Ramayan who played many characters. Apart from Shyam Sundar who played Sugriva and Bali, actor Vijay Kavish played three characters together in Ramayan.

  • Vijay Kavish played the role of Ravana's father-in-law, Lord Shiva and Maharishi Valmiki in the show Ramayan 33 years ago. He was seen as Ravana's father-in-law and Lord Shiva in Ramayan, while as Maharishi Valmiki in Uttar Ramayan.

  • In both Ravana's father-in-law and Maharishi Valmiki, Vijay's face was covered with heavy beard and mustache because of which, viewers could not identify him.

  • In Ramayan, Vijay Kavish's character of Maharishi Valmiki is considered the most important as it is believed that Valmiki gave shelter to Sita in his ashram when Lord Ram renounced her. It was in this ashram that Luv Kush were born.

  • Mumbai-born Vijay Kavish's father was a dialogue writer and it was easy for him to enter the industry. He started his career with the serial 'Idhar Udhar' aired on Doordarshan. He also worked in Ramanand Sagar's serials 'Vikram Betal' and 'Sri Krishna'. Apart from this, he has also worked in many Bollywood films like 'Armaan', 'Phool' and 'Salma'.

  • After the last episode of Ramanand Sagar's Ramayana, the telecast of Uttar Ramayana has started. Viewers are able to see actor Vijay Kavish in the role of Maharishi Valmiki on the small screen.
