  • Samsung announced its newest Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge smartphones earlier this week for Rs. 48,900 and Rs. 56,900, respectively. The smartphone giant also introduced a host of new improvements, which even tempted the iphone enthusiasts. On the other hand Samsung missed some popular features available in most of the flagships. Here are the hits and misses:

The smartphone giant also introduced a host of new improvements, which even tempted the iphone enthusiasts. On the other hand Samsung missed some popular features available in most of the flagships. Here are the hits and misses:

  • Samsung changed the design and moved away from plastic body to metal frame along with front and back glass design, which was quite impressive.

  • Both Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge both look very similar to last year’s Galaxy S6.

  • Samsung has added Water and Dust proof feature and we have got another Samsung waterproof phone.

  • Samsung has finally integrated ‘always on display’, a popular feature earlier used in Motorola smartphones.

  • Samsung has tried hard to impress its users by bringing back the microSD card slot. But it is a hybrid slot that can be either used as the second SIM on it or a memory card. In addition, the phone’s internal memory is restricted to 32GB while most of the flagships have their 64GB variant.

  • Samsung has impressed us with the pretty tight pricing for Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge.

  • Samsung has missed type-c as most flagships of 2016 and 2015 offer the new standard and this is a bit disappointing.

  • Samsung India is also offering a free Gear VR headset to consumers who will place pre-orders by March 17. Gear VR was launched in January and is available for Rs 8200.

  • The company has added features such as Super Power Saver mode to conserve battery, Samsung’s KNOX security, Flipboard like Briefing app for news feed and new web browser.

  • The S7 packs a 3000mAh battery and the S7 edge packs a slightly larger 3600mAh battery but the good thing is both supports Fast Charging both on wired and wireless.
