Indian Railways announces festival special trains for Northeast: Check list, schedule, route

The Northeast Frontier Railway is set to operate two pairs of special trains, including a Puja special from Anand Vihar to Katihar, to accommodate increased passenger traffic during the festive season.

In preparation for the upcoming festive season, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has unveiled plans to operate two pairs of special trains to accommodate the expected increase in passenger traffic.

The first of these, a Puja special train, will run twice a week between Anand Vihar Terminal and Katihar from October 8 to November 27, 2024. This train will complete a total of 15 roundtrips during this period. Train number 04047, traveling from Katihar to Anand Vihar Terminal, will depart every Wednesday and Saturday at 6:00 PM, arriving in Anand Vihar Terminal the following day at 5:50 PM. Conversely, Train number 04048 will leave Anand Vihar Terminal every Tuesday and Friday at 3:20 PM, reaching Katihar the next day at 3:00 PM.

This special service will comprise a variety of coaches, including one AC First Class coach, one AC 2-Tier, two AC 2-Tier cum AC 3-Tier, one AC 3-Tier, ten Sleeper Class coaches, and one General Second Class coach. Key stops along the route include major stations such as Khagaria, Barauni, Patliputra, Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction, Mirzapur, Prayagraj Junction, and Chipyana Buzurg.

In addition to the Puja special, a one-way special train, numbered 05926, is set to operate from Dibrugarh to SSS Hubballi Junction on October 5, 2024. This train will depart Dibrugarh at 1:30 PM and is expected to arrive at SSS Hubballi Junction on October 8, 2024, at 9:00 AM. It will consist of ten Sleeper Class coaches and two General Second Class coaches, making stops at several significant stations, including New Tinsukia, Simaluguri Junction, Guwahati, and Bhubaneswar, among others.
