5. St. Louis Cemetery #1 – New Orleans, Louisiana
There are 3 St. Louis Cemeteries in the Big Easy, but #1 is said to be the most haunted. Opening in 1789, it's the oldest in the city.
With more than 100,000 people buried in a graveyard the size of 1 block, you'd expect that a few of the dead might have a little unfinished business.
The deceased are kept above ground in crypts and tombs, because with typical New Orleans weather, heavy rains and floods cause them to surface.
There are many reports of paranormal experiences, but the tomb that tends to attract the most attention is that of Marie Laveau, the famous voodoo priestess.
Visitors mark three X's on her tomb, in hopes that she will grant them a wish.
