Kabul: A suicide bomber struck a British embassy vehicle in Afghanistan's capital city, Kabul, on Thursday, killing at least three persons.
An eyewitness said that he saw at least three bodies from the blast in a nearby hospital. The nationality of the three is unclear.
An official involved in the rescue operation said on terms o anonymity, "I can confirm it was a British vehicle and there are some injuries. We are working with the Afghan authorities."
Meanwhile, the Interior Ministry spokesman Sediq Sediqqi said that blast wounded 33 Afghan bystanders and destroyed three cars.
According to Afghan's Deputy Interior Minister, General Ayoub Salangi, the suicide bomber was riding a motorcycle.
The Afghan Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.
Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said in a text message that a suicide bomber targeted foreign invading forces and many were killed and wounded. The Afghan Taliban was ousted from power by a US-led coalition in 2001.
