New Delhi: In a shocking revelation which can send jitters in Saudi- US ties a former member of al-Qaeda has disclosed how the members from the Saudi royal family had aided the dreaded terrorist organization. Zacarias Moussaoui , the al-Qaeda operative wrote last year tojudge George B.Daniels of district Courtin New York that he wanted to testify and disclose the facts known to him.
Zacarias said that in the late 1990s the terrorist organization wanted to shoot down the Air Force One aircraft with a Stinger missile and talked about the plan with the staff member posted at the Saudi Embassy in Washington.
The Saudi Embassy was quick to respond and has issued a statement in which it has said that Zacarias is disturbed criminal and his own lawyers have said that he was mentally incompetent.
However Zacarias received treatment from a psychologist who found him competent enough to stand the terror charges. He was found guilty and was awarded life imprisonment in 2006.
