PM Modi's three-nation tour ends, emplanes for Delhi from Sydney | Highlights

PM Modi emplanned for Delhi from Australia's Sydney at the end of his three-nation tour.

"PM Modi is so important in the globe's energy transition. He is already on the front foot..," said CEO of Recharge Industries, Rob Fitzpatrick after the business leaders' roundtable with PM Modi. 

Regarding the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA) negotiations between India and Australia, Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra said that they are planned in the month of June, and July respectively regarding the deadline set for CECA negotiations. He said that after the launch of the India-Australia ECTA (Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement) recently, the discussions have progressed very well within a short period of time.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese visited the Sydney Harbour and Opera House. The Sydney Harbour and Opera House were lit up in the colours of India's national flag.  

Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra highlighted the strong ties between New Delhi and Canberra and said that the friendly relations will not be disrupted by attacks on temples or activities of separatist elements in Australia. Addressing the special briefing on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's third day in Australia, Kwatra said, "You would have clearly noticed when the honourable Prime Minister of India said, and which was clearly appreciated by the Australian side, that India-Australia ties are very strong, very deep, very extensive, and we would not allow these friendly ties to be disrupted by such elements. Prime Minister also thanked the honourable Prime Minister of Australia for his assurance."

India's Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra briefed about Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ongoing visit to Sydney, Australia. "The attack on the temples and activities of the other separatist elements were discussed by the two Prime Ministers earlier, and today also. From the discussions last time till this time, the progress is clearly reflected in the fact that PM Modi thanked PM Albanese for the action that the Govt of Australia has taken against these elements," he added. 

PM Modi met Australian Leader of Opposition Peter Dutton in Sydney. According to India's External Affairs Ministry, both leaders had a productive meeting. Meanwhile, PM Modi conveyed his appreciation for the strong bipartisan support that both countries enjoy. Besides, both leaders discussed various aspects of bilateral ties, including people-to-people linkages, as well as regional developments. 

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said Australia and India are working more closely together to boost renewable energy. "Our two countries already have such a strong friendship & our Indian-Australian community has contributed so much. Together with PM Modi, we’re making the ties between India & Australia even stronger," he wrote on Twitter.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Australia's Governor-General David Hurley met in Sydney. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese was also present during the occasion. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese held a candid conversation in Sydney after the two leaders issued a joint press statement. During the joint press briefing, both leaders vowed to take the relationship between the two countries to the next level.

During the press briefing, PM Modi said both nations had constructive discussions on bolstering strategic cooperation in the sectors of mining and critical minerals. He further said India and Australia have also decided to set up a task force on green hydrogen. 

PM Modi invited his Australian counterpart Albanese and all Australian cricket fans to India for the ICC Cricket World Cup this year. "At that time, you will also get to see the grand Diwali celebration in India," Modi added. 

PM Modi also reiterated the issue of attacks on temples in Australia and activities of separatist elements. He further said that both nations will not accept any elements that harm the friendly and warm ties between the India-Australia relationship by their action or thoughts. "PM Albanese assured me once again today that he will take strict actions against such elements in the future also," Modi added. 

Australian Prime Minister Albanese announced the establishment of a new Australian Consulate General in Bengaluru. According to him, it will help connect Australian businesses to India's booming digital and innovation ecosystem. 

Speaking at the joint press briefing, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the tie between India and Australia. "This is our 6th meeting in the past one year. This reflects the depth in our comprehensive relations and the maturity of our ties. In the language of cricket, our ties have entered the T20 mode," he added. 

PM Modi along with his Australian counterpart Anthony Albanese addressed a joint press conference following their bilateral meeting in Sydney. Speaking at the presser, Australian PM Albanese said that both countries reiterated their shared ambition for an early conclusion of the Australia- India Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement later this year. 

PM Narendra Modi and Australian PM Anthony Albanese witnessed the exchange of MoUs between the two countries, in Sydney. Noting that bilateral ties between India and Australia were earlier seen to be defined by 3Cs- Commonwealth, Cricket and Curry- and then by 'Democracy, Diaspora and Dosti' and later 'Energy, Economy and Education' emerged as a key component, Prime Minister Modi said that he believes the relationship is "beyond this" and "it is mutual trust and mutual respect".

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was accorded a 'Ceremonial Guard of Honour' at the Admiralty House in Sydney, Australia. Today is the last day of a three-day visit to the country.
