Ramallah: Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas Tuesday called for an active US involvement in the Palestine-Israel peace talks.
Abbas made the call during a meeting with Martin Indyk, the US envoy to the peace process, which restarted in July under US mediation after nearly three years of suspension, Xinhua reported.
He demanded the US administration to intervene directly in the process "because the current talks made no progress", a Palestinian official at the meeting told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
Abbas and Indyk also talked about arrangements for next week's meeting between the Palestinian president and his US counterpart Barack Obama on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.
