Islamabad: Pakistan is likely to take a decision on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif attending Narendra Modi's swearing-in ceremony Friday morning, sources in the foreign ministry here said.
Sharif is still considering whether to attend the swearing in ceremony of Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi in Delhi.
There are reports that he may depute Finance Minister Ishaq Dar to attend the swearing-in ceremony.
Foreign Office spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said that formal invitation has been received but any decision by the prime minister to attend the ceremony on May 26 in New Delhi will be taken later.
She indicated that it was a normal practice to nominate or depute someone on behalf of the prime minister.
Aslam said Pakistan hopes the new Indian government will realize the importance of resolving bilateral issues.
