Amritsar, Oct 4: Pakistan government has taken strong steps to curb drug-smuggling to India through goods train as such activities could hamper trade between the two nations, Lahore Custom Collector Fazal Yazdani said here today.

Amritsar, Oct 4: Pakistan government has taken strong steps to curb drug-smuggling to India through goods train as such activities could hamper trade between the two nations, Lahore Custom Collector Fazal Yazdani said here today.



Yazdani told this to reporters after the monthly meeting with Amritsar Custom Commissioner K K Sharma here.

“Pakistan government has taken strong measure at our end of railway station to curb drug-smuggling to India through goods train and we will do our best to control all such activities which could hamper trade between the two nations,”Yazdani said.

He said to enhance the bilateral trade between the two countries, Pakistan has planned to eradicate the negative list of trade items by the end of this month.

In past few months around three big consignments of heroin were seized. They were hidden in cement bags and were being brought from Pakistan to India in a goods train.

Fazal Yazdani and K K Sharma jointly told the media that traders from both sides could never indulge in drug smuggling and it was the handiwork of some notorious elements on both sides that could be dealt sternly.
