Islamabad, Sep 17: Pakistan Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf today ordered the complete blocking of YouTube, following which the ministry of information technology has blocked the video sharing website.
Prime Minister Ashraf directed the IT Ministry to block Youtube over the video sharing website's failure to remove the anti-Islam film. The block will remain in place until the anti-Islam film is removed.
“Blasphemous content will not be tolerated at any cost,” the Prime Minister said.
Earlier the Supreme Court had ordered the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority to block links to all blasphemous content including those on Youtube to the anti-Islamic film.
In response the PTA said it had directed Internet Service Providers (ISPs) throughout the country to block links of the anti-Islam film.
A statement issued by PTA said, 750-800 links of the anti-Islam film had already been blocked after several complaints were received.
