Islamabad: Reeling from a spate of terror attacks that killed over 30 security personnel, Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif today chaired a meeting during which army chief Gen Raheel Sharif briefed him on the prevailing law and order situation.

The army has retaliated against back-to-back Taliban attacks in Bannu and Rawalpindi this week by bombarding hideouts in North Waziristan, which claimed over 50 lives.

Military sources have claimed that among those killed were 36 foreign terrorists and top Pakistani Taliban commanders, including the group's former interim chief.

“Prime Minister chaired a meeting where the security situation in Pakistan was reviewed. This meeting was convened in the wake of recent terror incidents in Bannu, Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Mastung and Karachi,” said a statement from the Prime Minister's Office.
