Washington: US president Barack Obama has indicated that he would continue to stay in Washington after leaving the White House in January 2017.
In an interview this week with Barbara Walters of ABC News, Obama and the first lady, Michelle opened up about life in the White House and their plans after leaving White House in 2017.
The couple said they may live in Washington beyond their time in the White House to allow their younger daughter, Sasha, to graduate from Sidwell Friends School.
Obama said his daughter Sasha will have a big say on where the family lives after leaving the White House in 2016.
Obama said the family would take her education into account before deciding whether to stay in Washington, D.C. or move back to Chicago, where they previously lived.
If Obama will take the decision to stay in Washington after his presidential term he would be the first former president to remain here post-presidency since the dying Woodrow Wilson more than nine decades ago.
