Washington: President Barack Obama today met Britain's Prince William, who is on a whirlwind three-day visit to the United States, at the White House.

William, the second in line to succeed his grandmother Queen Elizabeth II, held talks with President Obama in the Oval Office.

During the meeting, the two made a brief appearance before the media, but made no remarks to the press.

William was wearing a dark suit, blue shirt and red tie, while Obama was in a dark suit and blue tie. Both were seen talking to each other.

The Duchess of Cambridge, who is due to give birth to the couple's second baby in April, will stay in New York, skipping the DC portion of the visit.

It is their first trip to the United States together since a brief visit to the Los Angeles region in 2011.

William and Obama last met in 2011 at Buckingham Palace during the President's state visit to Britain.

The royal couple's trip will see William and Kate, both 32, mix diplomacy with supporting their favorite causes and promoting British business interests.

William will take part in the Third Biennial Meeting of the International Corruption Hunters Alliance (ICHA 2014), hosted by the World Bank.

As President of 'United for Wildlife', William is to join World Bank President Jim Yong Kim at the opening session to address more than 300 experts on anti-corruption.

He is expected to speak about combating illegal animal trade in wildlife parks.

The Prince of Wales, William's father, met Obama in the Oval Office in May 2011.
