US Presidential Election 2024: Republican Nikki Haley has challenged Donald Trump as she announced her run for US presidential election 2024 on Tuesday.
"I’m Nikki Haley, and I’m running for President,” she announced in a video message.
"It’s time for a new generation of leadership – to rediscover fiscal responsibility, secure our border, and strengthen our country, our pride and our purpose. Some people look at America and see vulnerability. The socialist left sees an opportunity to rewrite history,” she said.
“We turned away from fear toward God and the values that still make our country the freest and greatest in the world. We must turn in that direction again,” she said.
Nikki Haley was born to Indian immigrants in South Carolina.
She was the 116th and first female Governor of South Carolina from 2011 to 2017.
Former US President Donald Trump had appointed Nikki Haley as the 29th United States Ambassador to the United Nations. She served the post between 2017-2018.
A couple of weeks ago, Nikki Haley had sent invitation for a special announcement she were to make on February 15.
“I want to invite you to join me for a special announcement in Charleston on February 15, 2023,” Haley had said in an invitation.
“It would mean a great deal if you accepted this invitation right away. It will be a great opportunity to hear about my plans for the future, and I don’t want you to miss out!” she said.
Former US President Donald Trump, 76, had already launched his bid for White House race 2024 last year.
