New Delhi: In a breakthrough agreement, Myanmar has agreed to resume the repatriation of registered Rohingyas from Bangladesh within the next two months.
Bangladesh Foreign Secretary Shahidul Haque on Sunday evening said while talking about the outcome of the Foreign Secretary level talks held in Dhaka on Saturday.
“A working group will be formed to start the process as soon as possible,” Haque said.
Foreign Ministry sources said that around 30,000 registered Rohingyas live in Cox's Bazaar of Chittagong, while another 5 lakhs live illegally.
Bangladesh and Myanmar have also agreed to revive the negotiation to have road connectivity between the two countries.
