Islamabad, Dec 18: Hurriyat Conference chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq today welcomed the resumption of dialogue between India and Pakistan but said Kashmiris should be included in parleys as the Kashmir issue cannot be settled without their participation.
Addressing a news conference with Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan, Farooq appreciated the restoration of the dialogue between New Delhi and Islamabad.
“Kashimiris should be given representation in bilateral parleys as the Kashmir problem cannot be resolved until Kashmiris are included in the process,” he said.
Kashmiris are not against improved relations between Pakistan and India but it should not come at the cost of the Kashmiri people, he said.
Kashmir is not a territorial dispute but a humanitarian issue as “an unnatural border” had been created in the region, he said.
