Mexico City: Mexico's Coahuila state has banned the use of animals in circuses.
The reform, unanimously passed by the state legislature, prohibits the use of animals in shows or promotional parades, including the use of rabbits and doves by magicians.
State legislators left bullfights out of the ban list during their review of laws for protection of animals.
Coahuila thus joins Mexico City and other states like Colima, Guerrero, Guanajuato, Jalisco, Morelos and Queretaro that have banned the use of animals in circuses.
