New Delhi: Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, has just posted the first live video from Facebook headquarters in Menlo Park, California. And it is predictably very popular, having notched up over 220,000 likes and over 12,000 comments at last count.
Zuckerberg took viewers through a tour of the building where Facebook just moved in a couple of months ago. He showed how people work in close proximity with each other in an office with the largest open floor plan in the world. He noted that this enables better collaboration, which is the key to Facebook's success.
We also got an opportunity to see Zuckerberg's own desk, which is chock-a-block with books, including the one he is currently reading for his 'A Year of Books' challenge as part of which he reads a new book every other week in 2015.
There's 'all kinds of cool stuff' on his desk in Zuckerberg's own words. He points to a model of a satellite that Facebook is working on and a model of an airplane being designed by the company to provide internet access to remote areas.
Then we had a glimpse of the conference room where the Facebook CEO has his meetings. The most remarkable aspect of the conference room is the glass wall surrounding it. Everyone else can see Zuckerberg during his meetings and, indeed, when he is at his desk too.
Zuckerberg believes that the open and transparent culture at the company helps them produce their best work.
