Thousands of soldiers were killed in these deadly wars, and there have been a number of ceasefire violations too. Pakistan had violated ceasefire 96 times in 2013 so far, the highest in 8 years according to MoD figures. 2. Sudan and Southern Sudan The length of the border is 1,350 miles. The war between Sudan and South Sudan had been going on since 1955 till 2005 over oil reserves in South Sudan's Unity state and Sudan's South Kordofan. Nearly, 2.5 million people had been killed and 5 million displaced. In January, 2005 a peace deal was signed which provides permanent ceasefire, autonomy for the South , a power sharing agreement involving rebels in Khartoum and a south Sudanese referendum on independence in six years' time. 3. Afghanistan and Pakistan The Durand line lies at the very heart amidst tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan. The border is known far being lawless, al Qaeda and Drone strikes. It is a 1,500 mile long border separating Afghanistan and Pakistan. United States and Mexico Running from Imperial Beach, California, and Tijuana, Baja California, in the west to Matamoros, Tamaulipas, and Brownsville, Texas, in the east, the 1,950 miles long border separates the United States from Mexico. The Mexico drug war is the major reason for the border being threatening. A report published by Human Rights Watch criticizes Mexican security forces and estimates more than 60,000 people were killed in drug-related violence from 2006 to 2012. 5. Cambodia and Thailand The length of the border being 500 miles, dozens were killed and tens of thousands displaced on both sides of the border over the 11th-century Preah Vihear dating back to colonial times. Thailand says the area was never drawn and the demarcation by the French in the beginning of 20th century lacked clarity.After a long battle the, International Court of Justice awarded the Hindu temple to Cambodia. But the dispute over the 1.8-square-mile area around the holy site has never been resolved. An agreement was reached in December 2011, in which Thai troops had to withdraw from the disputed area. 6. Democratic Republic of Congo and Angola border The border is considered dangerous as many Congolese women are victims of rape and violence from Angola security forces.The two countries have been drawn into disputes over border demarcation, offshore oil ownership, and Congo's rapprochements with Rwanda and Uganda, its neighbors to the east. According to Human Rights Watch, 61 women have been raped since March 2013 in Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. 7. India and Bangladesh Bangladesh, formerly East Pakistan, gained its independence from West Pakistan in a 1971 civil war with the support of India, a conflict that left more than a million people dead and shattered Bangladesh's economy and infrastructure. The new nation has struggled to recover ever since. India and Bangladesh share the world's fifth-longest border, and an estimated 10 million to 20 million illegal Bangladeshi immigrants live in India. Bangladesh, as a Muslim-majority country and the poorer neighbour to a rising India, is often lenient towards illegal migration of its nationals to India. 8.
