New Delhi: An 11-month-old infant was strangled to death with a piece of cloth by the housemaid in Al Qusais, Dubai on Sunday, reports Khaleej Times.
The maid was upset because she had been refused a vacation by the Indian couple since the child's mother had recently started a new job and was herself unable to take a break.
The police said that when the parents returned in the evening, they found the child was unresponsive.
The shocked parents thought that it was a normal death but relatives insisted that they suspected foul play.
The forensic experts, who suspected that the child had died a mysterious death, conducted an autopsy to check the cause of death and found that the child was strangled with the cause of death being suffocation.
The Nepalese housemaid, who is in her 20s, confessed to the crime when she was interrogated in police custody and said that she had strangled the child using a piece of cloth.
She also confessed that she was disturbed and wanted to go back to her home country.
