China accuses Abe of attempting to cobble an anti-China alliance in the backdrop of deteriorating ties between the two sides over the disputed islands in East China Sea and has been sharply critical of his policies in the recent months.
Chinese Foreign Ministry so far declined to respond the media queries over Abe's visit to India. Abe's visit, however, was widely reported in the official media here.
Chinese analysts see India's Look East Policy under which New Delhi is deepening its ties with countries of East Asia as an attempt by New Delhi to counter Beijing's forays into India's neighbourhood in South Asia with millions of dollars of aid to Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Maldives and Pakistan.
India and China last year signed a Border Defence Cooperation Agreement (BDCA) to avert any untoward incidents at the disputed borders as they made efforts to settle the issue through Special Representatives mechanism.
So far the two sides held 17 rounds of talks to resolve the border issue.
“As you are aware, we have carefully developed a multifaceted partnership with China, even while seeking to address outstanding issues, including the boundary question. Leaders of both countries have invested in this most important bilateral relationship,” Kantha said.
