Tokyo: Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe hosted tea ceremony in honour of his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi, who is on a five-day official visit the island nation in the East Asia, at Akasaka Palace in Tokyo on Monday.

It is believed that tea ceremony is a rare honour given to visiting leaders to Japan.

Japanese tea ceremony is a ceremonial way of preparation of tea and serving green tea to important visitors.

Earlier in the day, Modi addressed a luncheon hosted by Nippon Kiedanren -- the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Japan-India Business Cooperation Committee.

He greeted the business leaders in Japanese language and announced a dedicated special management team directly under the Prime Minister's Office to fast-track investments from Japan.
