Tokyo, Oct 26: Japan's first "cuddle cafe", opened last week, giving customers to snuggle or sleep with girls but sex is not allowed. Soineya (translated as “sleep together shop”) was launched in Akihabara, Tokyo's electronics district.
In this loclity, there are 'maid cafés', where the waitresses are dressed in maid costumes, and a cleavage inspired ice cream also hit the shops there this summer.
Customers are charged 3000 yen (about £24) for a twenty minute cuddle, and there are varying types of cuddle, from 'Girl pats customer on the back' to the priciest option of 'Girl sleeps with head on customer's lap'.
Girls are paid approx £28/hr, but only if aged 'High school to 30′s', apparently.
Soineya is a small shop on the third floor of an old run-down building. Odd items in its detailed long list of menus also include slapping face or staring at each other.
'This is not a sex service,' said its manager who requested to be identified by his last name Koda told ABC News. 'It is for men who feel lonely and just want to be with someone.'
Koda got the idea for Soineya reading an online blog about Jacqueline Samuel, from Rochester, New York, who opened her business charging £37 an hour to cuddle and snuggle.
'Japanese men are tired from excessive work hours. They just want to feel loved and cared for,' he said.
