Eyewitnesses told the police that the woman was about to enter a bus when the man approached her and started arguing with her.
He then took a knife from his pocket and stabbed her.
The victim's body was moved to the General Department of Forensic Medicine while the man was transferred to Rashid Hospital, police said.
The police have not interrogated the man, who is admitted in the ICU, to learn the motive behind the murder.
