New Delhi: Adolf Hitler, the infamous German dictator, was born with one testicle, a research by German historian Peter Fleischmann, who claimed to have sourced the information from a long-lost medical report of the Nazi leader, has revealed.
The revelation goes contrary to the long-held belief that Hitler had lost one of his testicles during the battle of the Somme in the First World War in 1916.
However, the records taken during a medical exam suggest that he suffered from what is termed a "right-side cryptorchidism'', a common birth defect of the male genitalia in which a person suffers from the absence of one or both testes from the scrotum.
The examination reports that noted Hitler's purported defect were thought to have been lost earlier.
However, the records resurfaced at an auction in Bavaria in 2010, only to be quickly seized by the Bavarian government before being studied at Germany's Erlangen-Nuremberg University.
Historian Peter Fleischmann, who studied the medical records of Hitler, was quoted as saying by a newspaper that "the experienced medical officer immediately recognised the condition!"
