Russia's Gazprom signed a supplying agreement with Socar in October 2009 and first began importing natural gas from Azerbaijan in January 2010. A five-year extension of the deal was signed in 2012.
Azerbaijan halted gas supplies to Russia for technical reasons on the morning of Jan 13.
