Washington: Former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton has said whistleblower Edward Snowden should be hanged for treason.
“My view is that Snowden committed treason, he ought to be convicted of that, and then he ought to swing from a tall oak tree.”
Bolton was speaking to Fox News about former government contractor Edward Snowden who has leaked classified details on the National Security Agency's controversial surveillance practices.
Bolton's remarks came in response to NSA official Rick Ledgett's suggestion that it is "worth having a conversation about" amnesty for Snowden.
John Bolton said there should be no amnesty for Snowden.
