The Japan Meteorological Agency reported that on Sunday evening, a powerful earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.2 struck the Hokkaido prefecture in northern Japan at a depth of 140 kilometers (87 miles).
According to the agency, the epicenter of the quake was off the coast of the town of Urakawa, and no tsunami warning had been issued.
There were no reports of issues at the nearby nuclear plants, power outages, or issues with bullet trains operating in northern Japan.
The shake, which hit at 6:54 p.m, was 136 kilometers (85 miles) profound and struck the southwestern piece of Hokkaido, as per the Japanese Meteorological Organisation.
It shook a significant part of the island, including the urban communities of Chitose and Atsumacho, the organisation said.
It advised people to keep an eye out for landslides and powerful earthquakes that could occur in the coming days.
Hokkaido HTB News revealed neighborhood train and metro administrations were deferred, and a part of a road was briefly shut down off.
At a Hokkaido airport, news footage showed a display that was swaying slightly from the shaking. An occupant told the telecaster the shaking went on around 20 to 30 seconds.
Portions of northern Honshu, the country's greatest island where Tokyo is found, were likewise shaken. Tokyo did not suffer.
One of the nations most susceptible to earthquakes is Japan.
Earlier on February 25, the United States Geological Survey reported that an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.1 struck off the eastern coast of Hokkaido, a northern island in Japan.
The tremor hit off the Nemuro peninsula at a depth of 61 kilometers (38 miles), as per the National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Resilience (NIED).
A tsunami warning has not been given by the specialists.
