As India was hit with a powerful earthquake, neighbouring nation, Nepal was rocked by three successive earthquakes of varying magnitudes on Tuesday.
The third earthquake of magnitude 4.1 on the Richter Scale was felt at 3:45 pm with the epicentre in Bajhang district, according to Nepal's National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Centre.

Later, the Bajhang district experienced aftershocks six times ranging from 4 to 5 magnitude hit between 3 pm and 5:38 pm, the National Seismological Centre said.
As a result of the earthquakes in Nepal, at least nine persons, including four students, were injured in the Bajhang district and one person was injured in neighbouring Achham district, according to officials. Vehicular movement on major highways was disrupted following a landslide triggered by the quake blocking a highway, the District Police Office said. Tremors were felt in several parts of India, including the national capital Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
Among the wounded was a student, who panicked and jumped from a two-story building, officials said. A district police office building in Bajhang district was damaged and several houses developed cracks, according to Nepal's local administration office.
The 6.2 scale earthquake occurred at 2:51 pm at a depth of 5 km on Tuesday, according to the National Center of Seismology (NCS).
"Earthquake of Magnitude:6.2, Occurred on 03-10-2023, 14:51:04 IST, Lat: 29.39 & Long: 81.23, Depth: 5 Km ,Location:Nepal," the NCS said on platform X.
The first earthquake was recorded at 4.6 magnitude at the Richter Scale, the NCS said. It occurred at a depth of 10 km at 2:25 pm.

There are no reports of casualties from the twin earthquakes as of now. More details are awaited.
Meanwhile, in India's national capital, the Delhi Police had urged public not to panic. "We hope you all are safe. Please come out of your buildings to a safe spot, but do not panic. DO NOT USE ELEVATORS! For any emergency help, dial 112," it said in a post on X.
In June, earthquake tremors were felt in Delhi-NCR region and parts of north India. According to European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre, (EMSC), an earthquake of magnitude 5.7 on the Richter scale occurred 30km southeast of Kishtwar in Jammu & Kashmir. The tremors were felt for almost 20 seconds.
