Coronavirus Updates: May 27, 2020 | As it happened

280 new COVID-19 positive cases and 3 deaths have been reported in Rajasthan today, the total tally of positive cases in the state rises to 7,816. Active cases in the state stand at 3081. The death toll is at 173.

269 new COVID-19 positive cases have been reported in Uttar Pradesh today, taking the total number of cases in the state to 6,991. The death toll stands at 182.

162 new COVID-19 positive cases reported in Jammu and Kashmir today, 21 recovered. The total number of positive cases in the union territory rises to 1921, including 854 recovered and 26 deaths.

183 new COVID-19 positive cases have been reported in West Bengal today. The total number of cases in the state is now at 4,192.

In the last 24 hours, 376 new COVID-19 positive cases & 23 deaths have been reported in Gujarat, taking the total number of cases to 15,205. The death toll rises to 938.

The current count of COVID-19 patients in Maharashtra is 56,948. Today, 2,190 patients have been identified as positive, also 964 patients have been cured. Total of 17,918 patients are cured and discharged. Total Active patients are 37,125.

7 new COVID-19 cases reported in Jharkhand - 5 in Hazaribagh, 1 in Latehar, and 1 in Chaibasa. The total number of positive cases in Jharkhand rises to 444.

One more case of COVID-19 sample reports positive in Ladakh. With this, the number of active cases in Ladakh rises to 11 with 2 cases in Leh and 9 in Kargil district.

40 new COVID-19 cases reported in Kerala today. Of these, 9 returned from abroad, 16 returned from Maharashtra, 5 from Tamil Nadu, and 3 from Delhi. The total number of positive cases in the state are 1004, of which 445 are active cases.

Total COVID-19 cases in Himachal Pradesh now stand at 251, including 177 active cases, 65 recovered patients, and 5 deaths.

18 new cases of COVID-19, including first air carrier, a resident of Kamrup Metro, who travelled from Ahmedabad to Guwahati. Total cases 704, recovered 62, deaths 4.

Noted Urdu writer Mujtaba Hussain passed away in Hyderabad today after suffering a cardiac arrest.

35 new COVID-19 positive cases have been reported in the state till 2 pm today; the total tally of positive cases in the state rises to 7680

38 new COVID-19 positive cases and 15 patients treated/cured in Uttarakhand today. The total number of positive cases in the state rises to 438, including 79 recovered and 4 deaths

A total of 792 COVID-19 positive cases reported in Delhi in the last 24 hours, 310 recovered/discharged/migrated in this period. The total number of positive cases in the national capital rises to 15257, including 7264 recovered/discharged/migrated and 303 deaths.

Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain talks about COVID-19 situation in state | HIGHLIGHTS

• Currently, there are more than 15,000 coronavirus cases in Delhi. 
• Out of all the cases, 50 per cent are active cases and 50 per cent recovered cases. 
• Till, recently private hospital were asking covid-19 patients to go to covid hospitals. We have asked all the private hospitals make arrangements for such patients rather trhan asking them to leave. 
• There 20 per cent beds reserved for coronavirus in Private hospitals. 
• People who are coming from other countries are quarantined for 7 days and then sent back home after proper testing. 
• We continuously monitor home quarantined patients.

The US records less than 700 new coronavirus deaths for the third day in a row, as per Johns Hopkins University. The overall death toll in the country is now 98,875.
