Delhi government appoints 10 nodal officers to coordinate with different states for movement of stranded persons, following MHA order.

Odisha Government has designated, Sanjeev Chopra, Principal Secretary Home, as State nodal officer for coordinating with various states for the return of stranded people of Odisha via trains.

India has registered a protest with Pakistan on the killing of an innocent Indian national in unprovoked firing by Pakistan forces.

16 more COVID-19 positive cases reported in Bihar taking the total number of cases to 466 in the state.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has requested Railway Minister Piyush Goyal to run 12 special trains on different routes to bring back people to the State

Around 1200 stranded students to leave from Kota on a special train to Ranchi, Jharkhand. SP Kota Gaurav Yadav says, "We are ensuring that social distancing guidelines are followed. Today, only one train will depart from here today".

Special trains will be run from point to point on the request of both the concerned State Governments as per the standard protocols for sending and receiving such stranded persons. The Railways and State Govts shall appoint senior officials as Nodal Officers.

Health Ministry briefed media on COVID-19 situation in India. Here are the highlights from the presser:

• Home Ministry wrote to various state governments to increase the movement of trucks and essential services.
• No special passes required for the movement of trucks and essential goods.
• In the last 24 hours, 1993 positive cases reported; the total number of positive cases is now 35,043.
• There is a total demand of 75,000 ventilators, out of which total 19,398 ventilators available and 60,884 ventilators have been ordered.
• India's coronavirus recovery rate is more than 25 per cent.
• DRDO has developed 3 types of new PU coated nylon/ polyester and technology transfer to manufacturers of India. We have ordered 2.49 crore N95 masks.
• Demand for PPE kits has been projected at 2.01 crore in India. We have placed orders for 2.22 crore kits out of which 1.42 crore kits are being procured in the domestic market. 1.87 lakh kits are being produced daily in the country.
• State and district administration to ensure through focused efforts that 'Red' and 'Orange' zone districts, break the chain of transmission through effective and stringent containment measure.
• More than 4 lakh oxygen cylinders are available; orders for more than 1 lakh oxygen cylinders have been placed. Industrial oxygen also being converted into medical oxygen.

Five more people, including two with recent travel history to Tamil Nadu, tested positive for COVID-19 in Odisha on Friday, taking the total number of cases in the state to 147

Singapore on Friday extended the stay-home period of foreign workers, including Indians, in the construction sector by two weeks until May 18 as the COVID-19 infections among the community continue to rise, constituting majority of the 932 new infections reported in the country.

3 deaths and 33 new COVID-19 positive cases reported in Rajasthan today, taking the total number of cases to 2617 including 61 deaths.
