    Chhattisgarh COVID-19 count touches 3,415

    The number of COVID-19 cases in Chhattisgarh increased to 3,415 after 99 people, including eight police and five Border Security Force (BSF) personnel,
    tested positive on Tuesday, a health official said.

    Chhattisgarh's COVID-19 figures are as follows: positive cases 3,415, new cases 99, deaths 14, discharged 2,728, active cases 673, people tested so far 1,89,038.

    Rajasthan govt directs private schools not to charge fees till reopening

    Rajasthan government on Tuesday barred the private schools in the state from taking advance fees till they reopen, a statement said. The state government had on April 9 barred schools in the state from taking an advance fee for three months in view of the corona pandemic and the order was extended today, it said.

    “Private schools were directed to not take fees till June 30. Now this order has been extended till reopening of schools,” School Education Minister Govind Singh Dotasara said.

    Coronavirus updates from Noida

    Uttar Pradesh's Gautam Buddh Nagar on Tuesday recorded one more death due to COVID-19 and 115 new patients, pushing the tally of cases in the district to 2,935 so far, an official data showed. The district's death toll has now reached 29, while the number of active cases rose to 1,121, according to data released by the Uttar Pradesh Health Department for a 24-hour period.

    Also, 23 patients were discharged during the period, taking the overall number of recoveries to 1,785 in the district, the data showed.

    Coronavirus updates from Gujarat

    Gujarat reported its highest-ever single-day spike of 778 coronavirus positive cases on Tuesday, taking the tally to 37,636, while 17 more patients
    succumbed to the infection, five of them in Ahmedabad, the state health department said. The state reported the deaths of 17 more COVID-19 patients, raising the fatalities to 1,979.

    Also, 421 patients were discharged from hospitals, taking the number of recovered cases in Gujarat to 26,744, the department said in a release.

    The Tripura government on Tuesday decided to conduct rapid antigen test in the state's 28 containment zones and all the entry points including Agartala Airport following a spike in COVID-19 cases, Law Minister Ratan Lal Nath said.

    Coronavirus updates from Goa

    Goa on Tuesday reported 90 COVID-19 cases, taking the overall count to 1,903, while 95 people were discharged post recovery, leaving the state with 739 active ones, an official said. A total of 3,197 samples were tested during the day, of which 90 returned positive, 2,057 negative and 1,050 reports are awaited, he added.

    Eight people, including former state health minister Suresh Amonkar, have died of the infection so far.

    Goa's COVID-19 figures are as follows: Positive cases: 1,903, new cases: 90, deaths: 08, discharged: 1,156, active cases 739, Samples tested till date: 79,864.

    Maximum temperatures hover close to normal in Haryana, Punjab

    The weather was pleasant in Haryana and Punjab as the maximum temperatures in both the states hovered close to normal limits on Tuesday, the Met office said. Their common capital Chandigarh, which received rain in the evening, recorded a maximum of 35.5 degrees Celsius.

    Hisar in Haryana recorded a high of 37.2 degrees Celsius, down two notches against normal while Karnal registered a high of 33.5 degrees Celsius, a notch below normal.

    Ambala recorded a high of 35.1 degrees Celsius, a notch below the season's average while Narnaul, which was lashed by rain, recorded a maximum temperature of 27.4 degrees Celsius, ten notches below season's average.

    Amritsar, Ludhiana and Patiala in Punjab recorded near similar below normal maximum temperatures at 35.8 degrees Celsius, 35.7 degrees Celsius and 35.2 degrees Celsius, respectively.

    Coronavirus updates from Maharashtra

    The number of COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra spiked by 5,134 on Tuesday, taking the total count to 2,17,121, state Health department said. With 224 more patients succumbing to the infection, the death toll has gone up to 9,250, it said.

    A total of 3,296 patients were discharged from hospitals in the day, taking the number of the recovered cases to 1,18,558, an official release said.

    The number of active cases in the state now stands at 89,294, it said.

    Coronavirus updates from Delhi

    Delhi recorded 2,008 fresh coronavirus cases on Tuesday, taking the tally in the city to over 1.02 lakh, while the death toll from the disease mounted to 3,165, authorities said. Fifty fatalities have been recorded in the last 24 hours, according to the Delhi health department bulletin.

    On June 23, the national capital had reported highest single-day spike of 3,947 cases.

    The death toll from COVID-19 in Delhi stood at 3,115 on Monday.

    The Tuesday bulletin said the death toll from the coronavirus infection has risen to 3,165, and the total number of cases mounted to 1,02,831.

    Coronavirus updates from Nagaland

    Nagaland on Tuesday reported 19 new COVID-19 cases, taking the northeastern state's tally to 644, Health Minister S Pangnyu Phom said. Of the 321 samples tested during the last 24 hours through BSL laboratories and also TrueNat RDRP Gene, 19 fresh cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed, he said.

    Of the total 644 COVID-19 cases, 341 are active and 303 people have recovered from the disease.

    Encounter underway between security forces, militants in Pulwama

    An encounter broke out between militants and security forces in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, police said.

    Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Goosu village of Pulwama following information about presence of militants there, a police official said.
