Haryana on Sunday reported five more coronavirus deaths, as 457 fresh cases raised the state's caseload to 17,005.

Uttarakhand reported 31 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking total cases to 3,124. Recovery rate among COVID-19 patients stands at 80.79%.

Maharashtra's COVID-19 tally rose to 2,06,619 on Sunday with the single-day spike of 6,555 new cases on Sunday, the state health department said. With the death of 151 more patients, the state's fatality count rose to 8,822, it said.

A total of 3,658 patients were discharged from hospitals post recovery, which took the number of recovered persons to 1,11,740 so far, the department said in a statement.

There are 86,057 active cases in the state at present.

So far, 11,12,442 people have been tested across the state, it said.

Madhya Pradesh on Sunday recorded its highest single-day spike in COVID-19 cases as 326 people tested positive for novel coronavirus, taking the state's count to 14,930, an official said.

Nagaland reported 28 new coronavirus cases on Sunday, taking the northeast state's tally to 590, a health department bulletin said. Of the total 590 COVID-19 cases, 359 are active while 231 people have recovered from the disease.

Sri Lanka will re-open its schools in a phased manner from Monday after keeping them closed for 115 days due to the lockdown imposed in the country to contain the spread of the coronavirus, the Ministry of Education said on Sunday.

Uttar Pradesh recorded the highest single-day jump of 1,153 coronavirus cases on Sunday, pushing the infection tally to 27,707, while the death toll in the state reached 785 with 12 fresh fatalities, officials said. A total of 18,761 COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from hospitals, Additional Chief Secretary (Home and Information) Awanish Awasthi said.

There are now 8,161 active cases in the state, he added.

Amid the rising COVID-19 cases in Bengaluru, over 3,000 beds in private hospitals have been reserved for treating patients while a 10,100-bed coronavirus care centre, the biggest in the country, has been set up, authorities said on Sunday.

Nepal on Sunday reported 293 new coronavirus cases, taking its total count to 15,784, according to the Ministry of Health and Population which said the country has achieved 41 per cent recovery rate.

Andhra Pradesh recorded a new single day high of 998 fresh COVID-19 cases on Sunday taking the overall tally to 18,697 even as the state crossed the one million mark in the number of samples tested.

At least seven more people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Arunachal Pradesh, raising the total tally in the state to 259, a senior health department official said on Sunday.

Senior BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday expressed concern over the surge in COVID-19 cases in Kalyan-Dombivali belt in Thane district, part of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region which has seen spurt in new infections.

The car of Delhi BJP's JJ Cell in-charge Neeraj Tiwari was stolen from outside his house in south Delhi's Jor Bagh area, police said on Saturday. The incident took place on Friday morning and was captured in a CCTV camera, they added.

Tiwari said his car was stolen from outside his residence. In the CCTV footage, two people can be seen approaching the four-wheeler and later, fleeing with it. A senior police officer said a case was registered and an investigation underway.
