Coronavirus updates from Chhattisgarh
Chhattisgarh's COVID-19 count reached 4,379 as 105 people were detected with the infection on Tuesday, while the toll touched 20, an official said.
Chhattisgarh's COVID-19 figures are as follows: positive cases 4,379, new cases 105, deaths 20, discharged 3275, active cases 1,084, people tested so far 2,17,433.

West Bengal extends total lockdown in containment zones till July 19
The West Bengal government on Tuesday extend the total lockdown in containment zones till July 19. According to a notification by the Home Department, the rigorous containment in these areas would be extended from July 15 to July 19. These zones are located in and around Kolkata, besides Jalpaiguri, Malda, Cooch Behar, Raiganj and Siliguri, it said.
The total lockdown was enforced in the containment zones from 5 pm of July 9 to stem the spike in COVID-19 cases.

Coronavirus updates from Iran
Iran has recorded 2,521 new coronavirus cases and 179 deaths within the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Health and Medical Education said on Tuesday.
The total infection number and death toll rose to 262,173 and 13,211 respectively since the outbreak of disease in the country in February, said Sima Sadat Lari, the spokeswoman for the health ministry, during her daily briefing, Xinhua reported.

COVID-19: Taking holy dip in Ganga on Somvati Amavasya banned
Devotees will not be allowed to take a holy dip in the Ganga river here on the occasion of Somvati Amavasya on July 19 and 20 in view of the COVID-19 pandemic, the district magistrate said on Tuesday. Lakhs of devotees used to turn up at the Ganga ghats on the occasion every year for a ritual bath in the holy river.
The decision to impose a ban on bathing in the Ganga on Somvati Amavasya and to keep the borders of Haridwar district sealed to prevent entry of vehicles and devotees from outside was taken at a joint meeting of the district administration and police for public safety, District Magistrate C Ravishankar said.
Officials have been asked to take stern action against violators, he said.

Orange alert for Mumbai, coastal districts, yellow for others
The India Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar and other coastal districts in Maharashtra stating it is very likely that 'heavy to very heavy' rainfall will occur in isolated places in this region.
The orange alert by the the IMD's Mumbai centre is also for coastal districts like Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg as well as Pune in western Maharashtra.
A yellow alert for Kolhapur, Satara, Aurangabad and Jalna districts has also been issued.

Coronavirus updates from Andhra Pradesh
Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday logged 43 fresh COVID-19 deaths, a new single day high, taking the overall toll past 400 mark. Another 1,916 fresh infections took the coronavirus aggregate tally to 33,019, of them 15,144 being active cases, according to the latest bulletin.

Identical twins from Noida score perfectly identical marks in CBSE class 12 exams
Twins Mansi and Manya not only look alike, but they also managed to score identical marks in their class 12 examination, results of which were announced by the CBSE on Monday. The Noida-based identical twins scored 95.8 per cent each, and also received the same marks in each subject. Both of them plan to pursue engineering and are waiting to appear for JEE Mains which has been postponed to September because of coronavirus pandemic.
The sisters, who also have similar habits, say they were sure about performing well in exams but had not imagined that they would end up scoring identical marks.

COVID-19: Toyota suspends production at Karnataka's Bidadi plant till July 22
Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) on Tuesday said it has decided to suspend production at its Bidadi plant in Karnataka till July 22 in line with the lockdown announced by the state government to counter the spread of COVID-19.
The firm's operations at Bidadi-based plant in Karnataka will be suspended from July 14 (second shift) to July 22 (first shift), TKM said in a statement.

Sensex plunges 661 points in line with global selloff
Equity benchmark Sensex plunged 661 points on Tuesday, dragged by losses in financial stocks amid selloff in global markets. After touching a low of 35,877.42, the 30-share BSE Sensex settled 660.63 points, or 1.80 per cent, lower at 36,033.06.
Likewise, the NSE Nifty fell 195.35 points, or 1.81 per cent, to 10,607.35.

UP ADG Law & Order Prashant Kumar addresses media on Kanpur Encounter case
UP Police on Tuesday addressed a presser on the Vikas Dubey encounter case and Kanpur Encounter in which 8 policemen were killed. Cops said, post-mortem report reveals that sharp weapons and guns were used to kill the 8 policemen at Bikru village on July 3. Circle Officer Devendra Mishra had four bullet injuries. Also, it reveals that all bullets were shot from point-blank range.

India's COVID-19 case tally crosses 9 lakh mark with 28,498 new cases and 553 deaths reported in the last 24 hours. Total positive cases stand at 9,06,752 including 3,11,565 active cases, 5,71,460 cured/discharged/migrated and 23,727 deaths. The recovery rate among COVID-19 patients has increased to 63.02%. The recoveries/deaths ratio is 96.01%:3.99% now.
