Coronavirus cases worldwide cross 7.3 million mark; death toll at 4,13,623

Coronavirus cases have crossed 7.3-million mark worldwide, taking the total number of patients to 7,316,770 on Wednesday. Meanwhile, 4,13,623 people died worldwide due to the virus.

Coronavirus cases have crossed 7.3-million mark worldwide, taking the total number of patients to 7,316,770 on Wednesday. Meanwhile, 4,13,623 people died worldwide due to the virus. Till now, 3,602,480 people have been recovered from the coronavirus infection, according to Worldometer figures. The United States continues to remain the worst-hit country with positive cases toll at 2,045,549 including 114,148 deaths. Following US, is Brazil with second-most maximum number of coronavirus cases 7,42,084 including 38,497 deaths and Russia with 4,85,253 cases including 6,142 deaths.

With much of the country re-opened under safety measures, China has announced three new confirmed cases of coronavirus, all brought from outside the country. No new deaths were reported Wednesday and just 55 people remain in treatment for COVID-19, while another 157 were being monitored in isolation for showing signs of having the virus or having tested positive for it without showing symptoms.

Chicago officials have canceled summer festivals through Labor Day including Lollapalooza over coronavirus concerns. The city’s Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events announced Tuesday that it had scrapped all permitted special events including the Taste of Chicago, the Chicago Air and Water Show and the Chicago Jazz Festival through Sept. 7.
