A small, blue and white Chinese vase has sold for almost £5million - nearly 500 times its estimate, reports Daily Mail, London.

The porcelain jar, from the Qianlong period, is just 14 inches tall and decorated with an intricate dragon motif.

It was sold by auctioneers Bonhams, which valued it cautiously at just £10,000 prior to the sale which took place in San Francisco on Monday.

But the auction was overwhelmed by China-based bidders who drove the price up to the eye-watering sum of £4.86million pounds.
