Islamabad: Border security officials of India and Pakistan are expected to meet in New Delhi next month for their bi-annual meeting, the first high-level interaction between the two sides after the cancellation of NSA-level talks, a media report said on Wednew.

The preparations for the meeting are already underway and the two sides are in contact, the Express Tribune reported. "As per border ground rules 1961, a routine, biannual meeting of IG Border Security Force (BSF) and DG Pakistan Rangers is scheduled at New Delhi from September 9 to September 13," an official of Rangers said.

"To coordinate the modalities of the September meeting, a prior meeting was held on Tuesday between representatives of Rangers and BSF at Wagah border," he said. The meeting will be the first high-level interaction between the two sides after the cancellation of meeting between the National Security Advisors on August 22.

Separate meetings between Director General Military Operations (DGMOs) and heads of Rangers and BSF were part of the understanding reached between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif during their meeting in the Russian city of Ufa last month.
